Veterans & Military
All veterans and military personnel with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) have lived through a traumatic event that caused them to fear for their lives, often seeing terrible things whilst feeling helpless. The strong emotions caused by the event create changes in the brain that may result in PTSD.
Not all veterans & military who undergo such terrifying experiences develop PTSD, but exposure to death and to fear of dying makes members of the military more vulnerable to its grip.
Securing help can be a challenge because of a shortage of funding, both at the Ministry of Defence and in veterans’ charities.
I can offer help with Trauma Focused EMDR and Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) although I understand that members of the armed forces often prefer to work with a therapist who has themselves served and experienced what they have gone through.
